DUTY OF CANDOUR

The duty of candour requires registered providers to act in an open and transparent way with people receiving care or treatment from them. This means that the health care professional must tell the person (or where appropriate, their advocate, carer or family when something has gone wrong, apologise and offer an appropriate remedy or support to put matters right if possible.
